Born in Istanbul in 1973, Burak Yakın began his professional career in the precious metals and jewellery industry in 1985 while continuing his education, working alongside Nadir Tütüncü, one of the pioneering figures of the Turkish jewellery industry. Having been trained within the long-established master-apprentice tradition of the Grand Bazaar, Yakın has brought extensive expertise and a strong vision to the sector through his hands-on experience across all stages of manufacturing and trade.
Throughout his professional career spanning more than four decades, he has contributed to the development of the industry through a management approach based on trust, quality, and sustainable growth while leading numerous significant projects with his entrepreneurial spirit and strategic perspective.
In 2019, Burak Yakın founded Gar Kıymetli Madenler A.Ş. and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Since 2022, he has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Garanti Rafineri ve Maden İşletmeleri A.Ş.
Under Yakın's leadership, Garanti Rafineri continues its vision of becoming a reliable and respected brand in the precious metals sector through its production approach aligned with international quality standards, transparent and traceable business processes, advanced technological infrastructure, and sustainability-oriented strategy.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Burak Yakın has undertaken active roles in numerous institutions and organizations contributing to the development of the Turkish jewellery industry. He is a Founding Member of the Association of Precious Metals, Stones and Foreign Exchange Market Institutions and Organizations. Additionally, he has served as a Board Member of Kuyumcukent Gayrimenkul Yatırımları A.Ş. and as Vice Chairman of the Istanbul Chamber of Jewellers between 2018 and 2022.
Between 2022 and 2026, Yakın served as Chairman of the Jewellery Exporters' Association where he led significant initiatives aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of the Turkish jewellery industry by increasing export capacity, and strengthening its presence in global markets. Starting from 2026, he contributes to the development of the industry as a Member of the Audit Committee of the Turkish Exporters Assembly.
Today, Burak Yakın continues to shape the vision of Garanti Rafineri around the principles of trust-based partnerships, production in line with international standards, sustainable growth, technological transformation, and creating value for society, with the aim of positioning Türkiye's precious metals sector more strongly on the global stage.
