New Destinations in Trade Delegations: Iraq and Ghana
Under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) organized General Trade Delegations to Iraq (Erbil) and Ghana (Accra) between January 29 and February 2, 2024. These well-attended events witnessed Turkish exporters conducting over 250 bilateral business meetings in Iraq and over 500 in Ghana.
Türkiye Exporters Assembly continues to bring Turkish exporters together with buyers from around the world through sectoral and general trade delegations. Between January 29 and February 1, 2024, under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, "General Trade Delegations" covering all sectors were organized to Erbil, Iraq, and from January 30 to February 2, 2024, to Accra, Ghana. Various companies from sectors such as textiles, ready-to-wear, chemicals, iron, furniture, jewelry, electrical-electronics, automotive, construction, and machinery participated in both delegations.
In Accra, the capital of Ghana, a program was held under the chairmanship of TİM Board Member Birol Celep, with the participation of 35 Turkish firms from 19 different sectors and over 300 Ghanaian firms. At the opening, Hüseyin Güngör, the Turkish Ambassador to Accra, Birol Celep, a member of the TİM Board of Directors, Francis Asenso-Boakye, Ghana's Minister of Business and Housing, and Dr. Emelia Assiakwa, Deputy Finance Chief of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), delivered speeches to the participants before the B2B meetings. Throughout the day, Turkish companies held over 500 bilateral business meetings with representatives of Ghanaian firms. The two-day program concluded after visits to the Turkish Embassy in Accra and Turkish firms operating in Ghana.
Between January 29 and February 1, 2024, TİM conducted a trade delegation to Erbil, Iraq. Led by Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, a member of the TİM Sectoral Council, the delegation included 27 Turkish exporting companies from nearly 10 sectors. At the opening of the event in Erbil, Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, as the Head of the Delegation, was joined by Emir Bayramoğlu, the Deputy Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, Sarwar Kamal Rahem, the Deputy Minister of Trade of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, and Hacı Gailan Saeed, the President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce, along with over 100 Iraqi companies. Following the opening speeches, Turkish exporters held 250 bilateral business meetings with Iraqi company representatives during the B2B meetings.
