"Low Carbon Hero" Award for TİM's ECOTİM Program
The ECOTİM Program, implemented by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) in collaboration with academia, industry, and stakeholders of the sustainability ecosystem to establish and reinforce the sustainability infrastructure of exporting companies, has been granted the “Low Carbon Hero” award.
Through its initiatives aimed at strengthening the sustainability infrastructure of exporting companies, the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) has earned yet another accolade.
The ECOTİM Program, carried out by TİM with the participation of universities, the industrial sector, and various stakeholders in the sustainability ecosystem, has been deemed worthy of the “Low Carbon Hero” award in recognition of its efforts to prepare and bolster the sustainability framework of exporter firms.
Türkiye directs 42% of its total exports to EU countries. To further increase Türkiye's share in this significant market, TİM leads exporters' associations and companies in aligning with the Green Deal. Sustainability, in line with the objectives of the Green Deal, ranks among TİM's strategic priorities. In this context, programs are being developed to strengthen the sustainability infrastructure of firms through targeted initiatives.
Aiming for $500 Million in Savings
Through the GREENTİM Platform, exporting companies are provided the opportunity to calculate and report their carbon footprints free of charge. The platform's artificial intelligence infrastructure has secured funding from the European Commission for three consecutive years. It is anticipated that if 150,000 exporters calculate their carbon footprints via GREENTİM, approximately $500 million in savings will be achieved.
Through the TİM-TÜBİTAK Green Innovation Technology Mentorship Program, support is extended to SMEs during their green transformation processes. TÜBİTAK funds 90% of the mentorship service fees incurred by firms from TİM.
The ECOTİM Program is structured as a comprehensive mentorship initiative aimed at enhancing the sustainability capacity of exporter companies. Fifty percent of the mentorship service fees are covered jointly by TİM and exporters' associations. While 10 firms benefited from the initial phase, the second phase of the ECOTİM Program aims to include 30 companies. Applications for the second term of the ECOTİM Program are open via www.tim.org.tr until May 9.
A successful model of university-industry collaboration, the ECOTİM Program was honored with the “Low Carbon Hero” award at the 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D). At last year's summit, TİM's GREENTİM Platform had also received the same award.
