TİM organized South Africa Virtual Trade Delegation
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), to reduce Covid-19 effects on exports, continues with South Africa its Virtual Trade Delegation programs. TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “In the first 10 months of 2020, when world trade contracted significantly due to the pandemic, our steel exports to South Africa were 134 percent; our chemicals exports are 73 percent; our cereal sector exports increased by 29 percent. In the short term, our goal is to increase Türkiye's share with advanced marine logistics in both countries.
The Largest Meeting of the Innovation Ecosystem Begins
Since 2012, Türkiye Innovation Week, the largest gathering of the innovation ecosystem, hosted by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce, will be presented online December 25-26, 2020 due to the pandemic this year. The 8th Türkiye Innovation Week, which will contribute largely to the settlement and development of the concept of innovation in Türkiye, will include world-famous speakers, industry giants, owners of groundbreaking technological inventions, innovation stakeholders, success stories, innovation-oriented projects, innovation awards ceremony. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and six ministries will attend the event, that many panels in which innovation will be handled in a multifaceted way. Türkiye's First Virtual Innovation Week, expert names in their field globally, such as Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger, futurist scientist Ray Kurzweil who is an expert in the technologies of the future, and Cardiac Surgeon Prof. Dr. Mehmet Öz will also give speeches at the ceremony. This year, together with our experience in the pandemic process, we designed Türkiye Innovation Week with a new understanding and have prepared a program full of export-oriented content. First Virtual Jewelry Event of Türkiye Begins
TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: FEBRUARY MONTH EXPORTS ALSO GO POSITIVELY Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle said at the opening of the first virtual jewelry event of Türkiye that January jewelry sector exports received a 2.5 percent share of exports, with an increase of 13.4 percent to $331 million compared to the same month last year. Gülle also addressed the general exports of February in his speech, “In 2020, for the first time in our history, we received over 1 percent of global trade. This uptrend continues in 2021. Starting this year with exports of 15 billion 48 million dollars with an increase of 2.5 percent, we reached the highest January export figure in the history of the Republic. Our export is going very well this month.” he said.
Export Family Breaks a New Record
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) announced the February export figures. In February, Türkiye's exports reached 16 billion 12 million dollars, an increase of 9.6 percent compared to the same month last year, despite the contraction in demand due to the pandemic, making it the highest February export figure in the history of the Republic. The export family has been a success in closing February and the last three months with a record in a row. In February, 22 sectors increased their exports compared to the same month the previous year. In particular, the strongest performing sectors were Mining, which increased by 47 percent to 415.6 million dollars, Defense and Aviation, which increased by 34 percent to 233.2 million dollars, and Ornamental Plants sectors, which increased by 25 percent to 16.3 million dollars. The three most exported countries were Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, respectively. The export family made to wave the Turkish flag in 210 countries and regions last month. In February, when 58 provinces increased their exports, 1538 companies participated in exports for the first time, while the automotive sector maintained its leadership with 2 billion 536 million dollars. The record export figure statement included the TİM Women's Council, of which exporter women are members, who have made important efforts to increase the number of exporter women.
