Saying that they have also accelerated their efforts to increase the recognition of Turkish products in the Latin American market, İsmail Gülle stated that the region has important opportunities for exporters with its 624 billion-dollar import.

The Virtual Trade Delegation program has started for Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile, coordinating with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and the Ministry of Commerce. Deputy Trade Minister Gonca Yılmaz Batur, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, T.C. Bogota Ambassador Ece Öztürk, T.C. Santiago Ambassador Gülcan Akoğuz, T.C. Lima Ambassador Ali Riza Özcoşkun, and T.C. Mexico Ambassador Tahsin Timur Söylemez attended the opening of the program, which was held for the first time. Türkiye's first virtual trade delegation for women exporters will continue until October 9th.

Exports to the region have increased 3-fold in the last 10 years

Stating that they are proud to carry out the first virtual trade delegation special to women exporters, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “Today we are organizing the eighth virtual trade delegations that we have organized with 7 different delegations to 8 different countries. Our delegation to Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile was the first virtual trade delegation special to women exporters. As TİM, we will continue to sign more firsts," he said.

Making evaluations about the market, İsmail Gülle stated that Latin America has important opportunities for exporters with its 624 billion-dollar import. Gülle said that the targets are high in this region: "As the Turkish Exporters Assembly, we have accelerated efforts to increase the recognition of Turkish products and culture by creating new export destinations in Latin America, market penetration of exporters, market holding activities. Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Peru; With a population of close to 230 million, with a national income of more than $2 trillion, it holds significant opportunities for our exporters. Our total exports to these markets have tripled in the last 10 years to $1.4 billion by 2019. We see that our exports of machinery, iron-non-ferrous metals, mining, and steel sectors have a large share of our total exports to these countries. In 2019, the export of our country to Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico; Its exports in the iron and steel section reached 224 million dollars, in the land vehicles-parts section to 215 million dollars, in the section of nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery, and equipment to 159 million dollars. We believe that after bilateral talks within the scope of the delegation, many new co-operations will be established and our exports to the region will reach the levels it deserves."

Women will play an important role in exports

Stating that they care about women taking an active role in the export family, İsmail Gülle said, "In this context, we have created the TİM Women Council within our Parliament in order to increase the number of women represented in the business world, to ensure the integration of women entrepreneurs into business life, to solve the problems faced by women exporters quickly and to carry out the projects they put forward more effectively. For two years, we have signed many projects with our Women Council, trade delegations, and business forums aimed at improving our bilateral trade and economic relations with countries. We will continue our work with the Women Council in the coming period."

$41 billion in exports in 3 months

During the pandemic period, the first "Virtual Trade Delegations" were the pioneers of "Virtual Fairs" and "Virtual Award Ceremony", Gülle said: "Close to 2000 online meetings held as TİM and its Exporters Associations during this period show our faith in the new normal. I would like to express my gratitude to our Minister of Commerce Ruhsar Pekcan for all the support he gave to the export family during the pandemic process. As a result of this intensive cooperation, we were able to increase our exports in the quarter beginning in June, which we call the New Normal. In June-July-August, our export reached 41 billion dollars, even over the same period last year. Our Virtual Trade Delegations will continue, and as TİM, we will continue our "Next Generation Trade Diplomacy" activities in target markets without interruption."
