TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: WE ARE FOURTH IN NATURAL STONE EXPORT
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle noted the success of the natural stone sector in exports in his speech at the opening of MARBLE İzmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair, which was held for the 26th time. Emphasizing that sector export exceeded $1 billion in the first half of 2021, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year, Gülle said, "In the natural stone sector, we take an 11 percent share of the world's total exports. Our country is the fourth most natural stone exporting country in the world. In the first six months of 2021, the three countries where we exported the most processed natural stones were China with $326 million, the United States with $227 million, and France with $53 million in exports. During this period, our exports to 113 countries increased compared to the same period of the previous year."
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle attended MARBLE İzmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair. Gülle visited the stands at the fair one by one and chatted with the company representatives. At the opening of the program, Gülle said "Fairs are like a holiday for the traders. We meet our friends, our colleagues around here. We know companies operating in all areas of the sector here. We have the opportunity to introduce ourselves, our products, our skills here. We open our minds with what we see here, we broaden our horizons with what we see here. Ultimately, fairs serve the development of our companies. The development of our companies serves the development of our country, which brings us one step closer to the goal of "a Türkiye above the level of civilizations". That is why I consider our union today extremely important. Thanks to Marble İzmir Fair, the participants of the Fair will have the opportunity to see the sector in every dimension, from natural stone design to heavy machinery. I would like to express my congratulations and gratitude to all those who have contributed and supported the fair, which is very well constructed with its content, participants, congresses, and competitions."
"We take an 11 percent share of the world's total export"
Pointing out that Türkiye is located in the zone where the richest marble deposits of the world are located, Gülle said, "In the natural stone sector, we take an 11 percent share of the total exports of the world. With a possible marble reserve of 5.1 billion cubic meters, our country has a third of the estimated world reserve. In addition to the abundance of raw materials, the natural stone sector in our country is one of the important players of the world natural stone market thanks to its richness in variety and color, sectoral experience superiority, ease of transportation in sea transportation, wide color scale, use of pioneering technologies. Türkiye is the fourth most natural stone exporting country in the world. We may be second in the sector, beating Italy and India, which are ahead of the list by less than one point, thanks to our strong reserves. We have achieved very important achievements by combining the natural riches of our country with our ability to do business. In recent years, we have also seen that natural building blocks have been rediscovered and are more preferred because they are more aesthetic and sustainable than other products. Now, what we have to do is to strengthen the Turkish Stone brand even more and to crown the positive atmosphere in the global markets with our value-added export.”
Sector boosts exports to 113 countries
Stating that the sector export exceeded 1 billion dollars in the first half of 2021, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year Gülle said, “Our export figures reveal that we continue our way by getting stronger in the natural stone sector. In the first six months of 2021, the three countries where we exported the most processed natural stones were China with $326 million, the United States with $227 million, and France with $53 million in exports. During this period, our exports to 113 countries increased compared to the same period of the previous year. Our exports to Egypt increased by 154 percent, our exports to India increased by 141 percent, and our exports to Libya increased by 84 percent. These increases are the clearest indicators of the compensation for sector exports, tensions in global trade, and losses caused by the pandemic. There are more than 480 natural stone varieties in different colors, textures, and patterns in our country. In this way, we believe with all our hearts that we will achieve our long-term goals and make Türkiye a country that gives a foreign trade surplus."
"Aegean Export Association's export in the last 12 months has reached 15 billion dollars"
TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle attended the Aegean Region Export Evaluation Meeting after the opening of MARBLE İzmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair. Listening to the demands and suggestions of the Aegean exporters he met at the meeting, Gülle said, “As of July, we have exceeded 200 billion dollars of exports in the last 12 months. There is no doubt that our Aegean exporters' association members have made an important contribution to this success. While the exports of our Aegean Exporters Association have increased by 40 percent since the new year compared to the same period last year, reaching 8.5 billion dollars, their exports in the last 12 months have reached 15 billion dollars. On the way to reaching Türkiye, which gives a foreign trade surplus, all our companies, all our sectors, and all our products separately have the importance.
"We are always with our exporter"
Celebrating all exporters who were the architects of the strong recovery after March-April 2020, when the first wave of the pandemic was felt deeply, Gülle said, "One of the regions most affected by the forest fires that our country has been fighting recently has been the Aegean region. The burning of our most valuable national assets hurt us deeply. On this occasion, I wish you a speedy recovery. Aegean region is a favorite region of our country. It is a rare region with its tourism, industry, agricultural products, and experienced human resources. We are always by our side and support our members who carry out their commercial activities in this region.”
