The Target is to Export $1 Billion to North Macedonia

“Northern Macedonia is a rising value in its region. As an export family, we must increase our effectiveness in North Macedonia.”

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the only umbrella organization of more than 100,000 exporters, carried out the “SME Export Mobilization North Macedonia” training program at the Istanbul Foreign Trade Complex. Oğuzhan Berber, Chief Commercial Advisor of North Macedonia, and Hayri Yorulmaz, President of ÖNSİAD, attended the opening of the “SME Export Mobilization North Macedonia” training program, which was physically carried out, hosted by TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle.

Making the opening speech of the program, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “Our exports to North Macedonia continue to be extremely successful. Last year, a total of 4,800 of our companies exported to North Macedonia. Our exports to this country increased by 37 percent compared to the previous year and reached 570 million dollars. We must rapidly increase our export to North Macedonia to above 1 billion dollars. The current conjuncture and indicators are very suitable for reaching this figure.”

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), which is the only umbrella organization of more than 100,000 exporters with 61 exporters' associations and 27 sectors, and working for the goal of "Türkiye With a Foreign Trade Surplus”, continues its “SME Export Mobilization Training Programs” to encourage export incentives, export supports, risk analysis, financing and project preparation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

In the last three years, Turkish Exporters Assembly TİM, which organizes 18 SME Export Mobilization Training physically and online, one of which is aimed at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, carried out the "SME Export Mobilization North Macedonia" training program for THE MEMBERS at the Istanbul Foreign Trade Complex.

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle and ÖNSİAD President Hayri Yorulmaz opened the training program. Oğuzhan Berber, Chief Commercial Advisor of North Macedonia, gave a keynote speech online.

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, who delivered the opening speech of the “SME Export Mobilization North Macedonia” program, stated that for the first time they were with the export family in a training program that prioritized the export family's tendency toward a focus market and thanked Hayri Yorulmaz, the president of ÖNSİAD, and all the members of ÖNSİAD who worked to implement this program.

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, who stated that it is very important for the future to reach companies with export potential, said, “Today, nearly two years have passed since our first training program. More than 37,000 companies joined the export family during this period. With TİM SME Export Mobilization training, we aim to reach every company with export potential in all corners of Anatolia.”

Sharing the information that they have organized 18 SME Export Mobilization Training physically and online in the last three years, one of which is aimed at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said that they designed TİM SME Export Mobilization Training Programs for 3 target audiences. There are respectively; Company representatives who already have their own business and want to carry out export activities, companies that want to provide continuous export growth, and finally young entrepreneurs.

Noting that North Macedonia is a thriving and open market for branding and has almost doubled its imports in the last 5 years, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “North Macedonia has maintained its stability at the level of imports even in the year of the pandemic. In 2021, it made imports of $11.4. In addition, North Macedonia ranked 46th in the 2021 Economic Freedom Ranking Index, performing best in tax burden and business freedom. Having a society familiar with our culture here is also a factor that strengthens our hand in terms of ease of doing business.”

4,800 Turkish companies exported to North Macedonia, up 37 percent from the previous year to $570 million

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said that they had a very successful course in exports to North Macedonia and said, “Last year, a total of 4,800 of our companies exported to North Macedonia. Our exports to this country increased by 37 percent compared to the previous year and reached 570 million dollars. The continuation of the positive momentum is extremely important because as the export family, we attach great importance to each country without making any market distinctions.”

“We must quickly move our exports to Northern Macedonia to over $1 billion”

Emphasizing that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given a very important task to the export family, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Our 2022 annual export target is 250 billion dollars. Therefore, we must rapidly move our exports to North Macedonia to over $1 billion. The current conjuncture and indicators are perfectly suitable for achieving this figure. The figures show that it is a rising value in the region of Northern Macedonia. As an export family, we must increase our effectiveness in Northern Macedonia. I firmly believe that the interest of our exporters in the region will increase with the training program we will carry out.”

Transfer of knowledge and experience from expert instructors to participants

Within the scope of the program, expert instructors of the institutions shared their knowledge and experience about Türkiye-Macedonia mutual foreign trade analysis report, export transactions and processes and export-oriented state aid, export-oriented KOSGEB support programs, KOSGEB Project Preparation Guide Training, Export Credit Guarantee Fund, Turkish Eximbank Loans in Export Financing and Credit Insurance. At the end of the program, knowledge, and experience were transferred to participants who wanted to export or increase their exports to North Macedonia through The North Macedonia Market Experience Sharing.
