TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: WE EXCEEDED THE ANNUAL TARGET WITH $212.2 BILLION
According to the September figures released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Türkiye has crossed a new historical threshold in export. The Turkish exporter, the field workers of economy and trade diplomacy of Türkiye, made history in September, exceeding $20 billion in a month for the first time. September export reached 20 billion 783 million dollars with an increase of 30 percent compared to the same month last year. This figure became also the highest monthly export figure in the history of the Republic. The Turkish exporter, who exported $161 billion with an increase of 36 percent in the first nine months of this year, with an export of $212.2 billion in the last 12 months, has achieved great success by exceeding its annual target of $211 billion.
Compared to the same month last year, while 23 sectors increased their export in September, the Steel sector ranked in first place among the sectors with $2.6 billion in export for the first time. The export family, which flew the Turkish flag in 218 countries and regions, succeeded in increasing exports to 170 countries. In 27 countries, including the United States, Spain, Belgium, Colombia, and Chile, the monthly export record was set. While 66 provinces increased their exports, 16 provinces reached the highest monthly export figures in their history. Last month, 1,558 companies exported for the first time. According to the declarations filed with Turkish lira, a total of 6.1 billion Turkish Lira was exported to 180 countries.
TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Thanks to our exporters, we came to the forefront as the only country that managed to keep up with its production and fulfill the orders during the global crisis. The world is aware of this. We see in our fairs that foreigners are waiting in line. Our work at full capacity, our inability to keep up with the demands is just the beginning... In the last 12 months, we have exported $212.2 billion, exceeding our annual export target of $211 billion. Thus, we have already achieved the Medium-Term Program target. We have set export records in 11 of the last 13 months. Hopefully, we will reach $300 billion in a short of five years in 2026."
Turkish exporters, who started this year with records and flew the Turkish flag all around the world, renew their export records every month despite the contraction of demand in global trade due to the pandemic and the shrinking of the world economies. The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the only umbrella organization of 100 thousand exporters with 27 sectors, announced the foreign trade data for September with the participation of Trade Minister Mehmet Muş at the meeting in Ankara.
The Turkish exporter, who broke the records in a row, and have made history by crossing 200 billion dollars in July according to the data of the last 12 months, achieved historical success in September as every month. The export family crossed the $20 billion thresholds in a month for the first time in September. According to the General Trading System (GTS); In September, export reached 20 billion 783 million dollars, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, breaking the all-time monthly export record. In the first nine months of the year, the Turkish exporter, which exported $161 billion with an increase of 36 percent, achieved great success by exceeding its annual target of $211 billion with $212.2 billion in export in the last 12 months.
"Export Development Fund will strength power of our exporters"
Before mentioning the export figures for September, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, evaluating the good news that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave to the export family at the 28th Ordinary General Assembly of TİM, which he attended on September 18, said, “With our record-breaking export; we forwarded our exporter's demands related with fairground and financing to our Ministry of Commerce. In this sense, the "Export Development Fund", which is among the good news, is very important for our export, which is rising with great momentum. Because more export brings with it more financial needs. This important fund, which will be created only accessible to our exporters, will strengthen the power of our exporters. This important step will facilitate export processes; It will eliminate the letter of guarantee, providing cost advantage and credit expansion. The fact that Eximbank's capital and resources will be increased, will increase the loan volume of our exporter, facilitate access to credit, and provide export support and financing to a suitable basis for needs. Another important good news concerns the "exhibition center". As an export family that grows with our production, export, and successes in domestic and foreign markets, it is clear that our current fair capacity cannot lift our current economy. In the last 20 years, we have managed to grow our economy 4 times and increase our foreign trade volume by five times.
During this period, the capacity of the fairgrounds in İstanbul increased by only 20 percent. We believe that this step taken towards crowning the achievements of our growing and developing export family with a larger exhibition center showcase is a very important development. Our president also announced our demands in our General Assembly."
"The good news will be the important milestones of our exports"
Emphasizing that the project that will turn İstanbul, the meeting point of Asia, Europe, and Africa, into a global exhibition center will be brought to Türkiye quickly, Gülle said, "As TİM, we will make the necessary contribution to the process. We will ensure our exporters to modern, spacious, and wide exhibition centers. This good news will hopefully be an important milestone in our export journey to 300 billion dollars.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our President, who regards exporters as companions of path and destiny, to our Minister of Commerce, who has always supported us, and the government. In September, we received very good news both in the economic confidence index data and in the global innovation index rankings in which our Parliament is tasked. Under the leadership of our President, with the support of our Ministry of Industry and Technology and the contributions of our institutions, Türkiye jumped 10 places this year to a historic high. As TİM, we are proud of the contribution of the 'Türkiye Roadmap and Action Plan' to this success. In the index, in which we have risen to 41st place this year, we came second among the countries that recorded the biggest jump. With this success, we have risen to 4th place in the middle-upper income group. As TİM, we will proudly continue to bring innovation to all our export and export stakeholders until our country reaches the place it deserves in the index, as in the past.”
Reminding that the Manufacturing Industry Capacity Utilization rate has reached its highest level in 39 months with 78.1 points and the Economic confidence index has reached its highest level in 41 months with 102.4 points, Gülle said, “The rise in the index points to an increase in export, employment and investments too. We produce, export, provide employment, build value on value, and prepare the ground for new investments in these lands.”
"Hopefully we will reach $300 billion in 2026"
Underlining that the pandemic has cost millions of lives in the world as well as upset the balance of global trade, Gülle said, "Thanks to our exporters, we came to the forefront as the only country that managed to keep up with its production and fulfill the orders during the global crisis. The world is aware of this. We see in our fairs that foreigners are waiting in line. Our work at full capacity, our inability to keep up with the demands is just the beginning... After exceeding the critical $200 billion thresholds, we have repeatedly stated in many media programs that we will gear up for export growth. We express this figure on a rational basis based on economic data, developments in the world. As the export family, we are preparing for the future by focusing on added value, brand, technology, and innovation, without interrupting production and export, with the awareness that we will reach a bright future at the end of these troubles. We have high hopes for tomorrow. We know that “Türkiye will rise with export."
"Türkiye Logistics Portal will be launched on October 11th"
Providing information about the Turkish Logistics Portal works, which will serve as a bridge between exporters and the logistics sector, Gülle said, "As the Turkish Exporters Assembly, we are working hard to increase our effectiveness in other markets as well as Europe, which is our main market. Global freight prices are known to all our exporters. We have completed our work on the Turkish Logistics Portal, which will serve as a digital bridge between our exporters and the logistics sector in order to find solutions to the logistical problems experienced on a global scale. Hopefully, on October 11th, we will make our portal available to our exporters, we will start a new era in the fight against this global problem."
