First Training for Solar Panels Placed on Satellites Started On Meaningful Day

TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: EXPORTS WILL RISE WITH INNOVATION, INNOVATION WILL RISE WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

The first training of the 'Multifunctional Solar Panel R&D Project in Nano, Micro, Cube Satellites' carried out within the scope of the cooperation between Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and İstanbul Technical University (ITU) to contribute to the 'National Space Program' objectives, was given on May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. With the project, within ITU Space Systems Design and Testing Laboratory, with coordination of İnovaTİM, will be developed multifunctional and domestic solar panels for Nano and Micro Satellites which are very low cost. TİM also opened the pre-use of the digital infrastructure of the 'Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Training in High Schools' project to InovaTİM youth as of May 19. With the 1-month pre-use, 1000 students from 75 different high schools will complete their training under the mentorship of InovaTİM in the first stage. This year, it is aimed to provide more than 15 thousand students the education.

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “As TİM, we will continue to stand behind every dream of our youth, who are our greatest strength, our hope, and our future. Because exports will rise with innovation, innovation will rise with young people. With our R&D project, we aim to gain competence in the economic production techniques and development processes of solar panels used in Nano, Micro, and Cube satellites. We foresee that the panels developed will reach the export level as the project reaches its goal in 2023.”

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), which is the only umbrella organization of 100 thousand exporters with 61 export associations and 27 sectors, continues its projects with young people, who are the greatest assurance of our country's progress, development, and growth. In this context, the first training of the 'Multifunctional Solar Panel R&D Project in Nano, Micro, Cube Satellites' carried out within the scope of the cooperation between Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and İstanbul Technical University (ITU) to contribute to the 'National Space Program' objectives, was given at May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. A total of 144 students, including 79 university students from 35 different universities and 65 high school students from 34 different high schools, took their first education from ITU USTTL Coordinator Prof. Dr. Alim Rüstem Aslan online. Astrophysicist Dr. Umut Yıldız talked about the place of young people in the space adventure of humanity; Prof. Dr. Emre Alkin talked about the role of young people in the information age economy.

The project, which is carried out in coordination with İnovaTİM and within the ITU Space Systems Design and Test Laboratory, is expected to develop and export solar panels with low cost and innovative techniques when the project reaches its goal in 2023. It is expected that the project will contribute directly to the goals of 'Gathering Satellite Production Under a Single Roof and Domestic Satellite Development Program', 'Improving the Space Industry Ecosystem', and 'Developing Space Awareness and Human Resources' among 10 goals in the National Space Program Roadmap.

Emphasizing the importance of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk launched the great awakening of the Turkish Nation on the Bandırma Ferry exactly 102 years ago. In the great struggle that began that day, Atatürk stated many times that it is our young people who will lead our nation forward. Of course, what is meant here is youth; It is an innovation of thought, not as age but as an idea. Thought innovation is innovation itself. Innovation of thought is innovation itself. We, as the InovaTİM family, are proud to walk the path drawn by Atatürk. In this sense, it is important that growing our Innovative ecosystem day by day, expanding its sphere of influence, and being a stakeholder in important projects for us to carry the flag of innovation. "The goal is to export domestic solar panels"

Stating that they carried out the first training of the “Multifunctional Solar Panel in Nano, Micro and Cube Satellites” project, which is the first R&D project of InovaTİM, Gülle said, “We aim to gain competence on the economical production techniques and development processes of solar panels used in Nano, Micro and Cube satellites with our R&D project. With the project achieving its goal in 2023, we anticipate the development of solar panels with low cost and innovative techniques and the panels to reach the export level. This year, 100 students with İnovaTİM will be included in the project processes. Knowledge grows like a snowball as it is shared; this is the most real treasure of our age. InovaTİM assumes a great responsibility in this sense. Because; "Our young people do not only receive education in this family, but they also gain a ground where they can transfer their experiences in the field of innovation".

"Education for over 15,000 students"

Pointing out that TİM's 'Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Training in High Schools' project will start its new era with its digital infrastructure, Gülle continued as follows: “Within the scope of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Training in High Schools we launched in 2019, more than a thousand InovaTİM students from 88 different universities Training was given. In Türkiye, more than 10 thousand students were provided with face-to-face training on innovation, the Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence before the pandemic. We have adapted all the experiences we have gained in the past to the new order quickly and brought all our training to digital infrastructure. We are opening the pre-use of our digital infrastructure, which has brought many new features to the project, to our young people with InovaTİM as of May 19th. In the first stage, 1000 students from 75 different high schools will complete their education under the mentorship of InovaTİM people. After pre-use, our digital infrastructure will be made available to hundreds of high schools throughout Türkiye. Thus, our high school students will become an important part of all projects of İnovaTİM step by step. Within this year, we aim to provide education to more than 15,000 students.
