Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) announced export figures for January. Turkey's exports increased by 6.1 percent in January 2020 and reached 14 billion 765 million dollars. Annualized exports reached $ 181.6 billion.
Announcing the export figures, TİM Chairmen İsmail Gülle said, “We started the year 2020 proud with a new monthly export record for January. I believe that, 2020 will be a year in which we will progress by breaking monthly export records one by one. With the dynamism of our exporters, accurate route determinations and strategic decisions we will continue to strengthen our position in the global arena.”
In January, 1,499 Companies Joined the Export Family
In January, 1,499 new companies started to export their goods. These companies, which have just started exporting, realized an export figure of 80.4 million dollars in January. A total of 38 thousand 165 companies made exports in January.
Automotive Industry Maintained Its Leadership
Automotive industry was the leader of January with 2.4 billion dollars. Chemicals was at 2nd place with 1.7 billion dollars and Apparel was at 3rd place with 1.5 billion dollars. 9 sectors increased their exports more than 10 percent. Largest increases were in Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (29%), Hazelnut and Products (22%) and Carpets (21%).
EU's Share in Turkey's Exports Increased to 50%
In January, Turkish exporters managed to reach 214 countries and regions. While exports to 132 countries increased, the increase was over 50 percent in 38 countries. The top 3 counties in Turkey's exports were Germany ($1.4 billion), Italy ($889 million) and the United Kingdom ($870 million). The share of the European Union, in Turkey's exports was 50 percent in January.
4.4 billion TL worth of Exports to 174 Countries
During the month, Turkish Lira was used in exports to 174 countries, with a total figure of 4.4 billion TL.
