Chief Advisor to the President İbrahim Kalın Meets with Exporters

TÜRKİYE WILL DEVELOP POLITICS AND TRADE WITH “GOLDEN RATIO”

Informing exporters about global challenges and opportunities, TİM hosted Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Spokesman and Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, at TİM Foreign Trade Complex. Making a presentation titled "Geopolitical Challenges and Opportunities towards the 100th Year of Republic", Kalın said, “It is of great importance to establish the balance between being domestic and national and integrating into the world. The golden ratio is the main element that provides balance. Türkiye has established this golden ratio and balance between east and west, between local-nationality and globalism, between tradition and modernization. With the gold ratio, we will continue to develop our understanding of politics and trade. In this sense, we can say that our Republic will enter its 100th year as one of the most powerful and respected countries in the world. The foundations of our Republic offer us such an opportunity.”

Stating that Turkish foreign policy clears the way for trade, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Our exports have also strengthened our foreign policy. In this way, we added a value of 25 billion dollars to our export last year. Our export compared to 2019, our peak year before the pandemic; It increased by 64 percent according to the United States, 52 percent to the United Arab Emirates, 42 percent to Israel, 39 percent to Russia, 35 percent to Ukraine, and 34 percent according to China. With the Türkiye-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement signed the previous day, we will hopefully reach much higher figures in our bilateral trade. After that, we will march decisively towards new goals, taking full advantage of our country's geopolitical position."

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the only umbrella organization of more than 100,000 exporters with 27 sectors and 61 Exporters' Association, continues to inform the exporters about new opportunities. In this context, TİM hosted Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Spokesman and Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, at TİM Foreign Trade Complex. At the event, which TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle opened it, İbrahim Kalın gave a presentation titled "Geopolitical Challenges and Opportunities towards the 100th Year of our Republic".

Stating that it is necessary to think collectively about new goals as we go to the 100th year of the Republic, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kalin, the presidential spokesman and chief advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye said, “Because our story has to be the story of all of us. Türkiye's great story is not just a 100-year-old story. We have a much more established state tradition, a sense of history. Together with the Republic, we have opened a new chapter in our recent history. We have established a new state within our 1,000-year-old state tradition. We look at the new world with the Republic. Next year will be the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We are already accounting for it. We have to evaluate together what level we have brought the Republic to, what kind of goals we should have after this."

"We Can Find the Balance with the Golden Ratio"

Saying that it is very important to establish the balance between being domestic and national and being integrated into the world, Kalın continued, “Sometimes being local and national can be perceived as closing ourselves to the world. Globalization is presented as a departure from our domestic and national values, identity, and geography. What we are looking for is the golden ratio as a super concept. It is to find a middle ground between overdoing and understatement by rejecting both. When we reach the golden ratio, it will be possible to combine the differences and extract a synergy from here. The golden ratio is the main element that provides balance. As a member state of NATO, we continue to improve our relations with other geographies. That is the golden ratio. Imports are needed as well as exports. We need to find the gold ratio here, too. As Imam Ghazali says, when one exceeds the limit, it turns into its opposite and begins to have the opposite effect. So, the main thing is to find the golden ratio knowing our limits, knowing our place. Türkiye has established this golden ratio and balance between east and west, between local-nationality and globalism, between tradition and modernization. With this gold ratio, we will continue to develop our understanding of politics and trade. In this sense, we can say that our Republic will enter its 100th year as one of the most powerful and respected countries in the world. The foundations of our Republic offer us more than enough opportunity."

“We Have No Chance to Be Indifferent to New Worlds Like the Metaverse”

Noting that humanity is moving forward with other dimensions of reality that go beyond physical reality, Kalın said, "We call it virtual reality, strengthened reality and metaverse. In fact, in a sense, we are rapidly moving towards a world where what we imagine is intertwined and where they feed each other. With new worlds we call metaverses, new opportunities and threats will arise. We have no chance to be indifferent to these worlds. If we manage them correctly, there may be new opportunities to present alternative virtual realities beyond physical reality to humanity. Thus, as a nation that not only pursues change but also defines and directs change, it will be possible to enter the 100th year and move beyond. Some realities such as Web 3.0 and metaverse are now in our lives. There are many software developers, who are building the future. Biosecurity, cybersecurity, and food security issues will also come to the fore in the coming period. We will also increase our activities and investments here."

New Pages Will Open with Some Countries

Noting that the President has among the most important agenda items of exporters' problems and investments in every country he goes to, Kalin said, "There will be very good developments soon. We are preparing to open new pages with some countries. We have started negotiations with Egypt. We are in discussions with Saudi Arabia. We have reached an important point with Israel. There will be new opportunities in many countries. Soon we will start to get the result. TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle shares the problems and demands of exporters with us at every opportunity. A year beyond the goals is behind us. Now we aim for $250 billion, $300 billion in the 100th year of our Republic. We are working on every problem. 2022 will be a year of good news when the problems are solved."

"Ukraine Will Continue to Be on Our Agenda"

Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Kalın said, “President Erdogan's visit to Ukraine played an important role in overcoming the crisis, and the Ukraine issue will continue to be on our agenda in the coming period. The FTA signed with Ukraine will contribute to our bilateral trade and play an important role in the continuation of our relations. Ukraine will continue to be the subject of 3-5 years, not 3-5 months ahead. As Türkiye, we will continue to do our part to overcome this crisis without any military intervention. Here we will try to find the golden ratio."

"We Will See Concrete Results in Nakhchivan-Azerbaijan Corridor"

Noting that the normalization process with Armenia will contribute to trade and peace in the region, Kalın continued: "The opening of the corridor between Nakhchivan and Azerbaijan is part of what we call normalization. It is an issue that both we and Azerbaijan are negotiating with Armenia. Opening this corridor is extremely important to ensure geographical integrity. Both road and railway works are underway. We will see tangible results soon. It is also of great importance for the economic development of the region. This process will relieve both Türkiye and Azerbaijan and the whole region, as well as Armenia the most. Turkish Airlines has launched flights to Yerevan. There is a normalization process between Türkiye and Armenia. This normalization process will continue. At the same time, border issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be resolved and a peace agreement will be signed. This corridor will make it easier for us to go beyond Azerbaijan."

Exports to Countries Where Embassies Are Opened Increase By 30 Percent

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, who gave the opening speech of the event, stated that Türkiye has risen to the position of the fifth country with the most foreign missions in the world with a strong global vision. Gülle said that exports to the countries where the embassy was opened increased by about 30 percent as a result of the research and informed that one of the important addresses of the foreign representation move was Africa. Our exports to Africa have increased 14-fold in the last 20 years from $1.5 billion to $21 billion. As stated by our President at the 3rd Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit in December, we will increase our trade volume with the continent to 75 billion dollars."

STA Signed with Ukraine Will Increase Our Bilateral Trade

Gülle stated that Turkish foreign policy clears the way for trade, "our exports strengthened our foreign policy. In this way, we added a value of 25 billion dollars to our exports last year. Our exports, compared to 2019, our peak year before the pandemic, increased by 64 percent according to the United States, 52 percent to the United Arab Emirates, 42 percent to Israel, 39 percent to Russia, 35 percent to Ukraine, and 34 percent according to China. Last year we managed to set an export record for 112 countries. Our government continues to sign agreements that will pave the way for our exporters in 2022. With the Türkiye-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement signed the previous day, we will hopefully reach much higher figures in our bilateral trade."

More Than 35,000 New Exporters in 3.5 Years

Stating that the excitement of exports continues in all corners of Anatolia, Gülle said, "Our exports are increasing day by day. By making good use of this interest, we spread our exports even to green fields with 81. There is not a single province that no longer exports. Our number of exporters, which was 65 thousand when we took office; In just 3.5 years, it exceeded 100 thousand. Our government paved the way for exports. Our export family broke records in 20 sectors and moved our exports to a new league. After that, we will march decisively towards new goals, taking full advantage of our country's geopolitical position."
